Most people in developed countries eat TOO MUCH protein (often double the recommended amount). High protein intake can lead to calcium loss and osteoporosis. It also contributes to high cholesterol, heart disease, and kidney disease.
This is another count against meat. It's funny how to most people, one study about vegetarianism leading to a small decrease in bone density or some other insignificant result is enough to help them conclude that they need to stay a meat eater, but the whole list of studies that show how meat eating leads to early death and a lower quality of life falls on deaf ears.
